You remind me of the babe

If the title of this blog doesn't sound familiar, read on!
The boys were playing at a friend's house the other day when the friend's mom called me:
Other mom: "Adam is ready to come home. He says he needs to go get 'score fried'."
Me: "Huh?"
Other mom: "Maybe he said 'core spied'."
Me: "What?"
Other mom: "I couldn't really understand what he was talking about. I swear he said 'more cried' or something. Anyway, he's coming home."
Me: "Um....Okay."
When he got home continued to go on and on about 'coarse tied'. What the crap is he talking about???? After a lengthy questioning I figured out that he wanted CORPSE BRIDE. He saw a preview for it and wanted to go to Target to get it.
While at Target searching for the Corpse Bride, I found one of my all-time favorite movies. The Labyrinth!!! As far as I'm concerned, Corpse Bride is for the birds. David Bowie and the Labyrinth is where it's at! The kids love it too. I think I've watched the Dance Magic scene about thirty times already. I am a true child of the 80's.
"Goblin King, Goblin King, wherever you may be - take this child far away from me!!!" How many times have you used that line when your kids are driving you nuts?
If you don't know this movie, you are really missing out! It's like the Muppets meet the Grimlins and then you throw in David Bowie. Is there a better combination than that??

I have to admit I have never seen it. Maybe I will have to rent it or something.

Loo and I LOVE the part where David Bowie sings, "Slap that baby, make him pee." Classic!

I remember the movie well. You and Lacey watched it more times than I could count.

I knew exactly what you were talking about right when I read the title! I too was a big labyrinth fan. I used to have nightmares about falling into the bog of eternal stench.

Okay - I am a dissenter here. I remember the movie well. Hated it. Thought it was creepy. Still remember the "pants" David Bowie wore. My kids are never watching it.

Love the Labyrinth. I was obsessed as a kid. Don't know why cause it is really weird, but I liked it. I was also obsessed with Lucas. Have you seen that one?

We've been Labyrinth lovers for years. My girls have that verse memorized (remind me of the babe.....voodoo, Who do? you do, do what? Remind me of the babe..........) and we use it often when we're being silly. I bought it at Target on DVD after our VHS copy had been run through the ringer from being viewed so many times.

I love this show. "Come inside, have a nice cup of tea, meet the mrs." It's right next to Neverending Story, Flight of the Navigator, Goonies and The Boy who could Fly. Cute post!

I have never seen it...I always thought it looked pretty stupid, that might say something there..;)

I guess I should give it a try. The Neverending Story is a favorite in our household, well a fav of Collin's and Coop's. I am only into those highschool movies where they are like really smart and stuff...

This is so funny! I just did the same exact thing. I went to Target to get my little guys a different movie and I saw "The Labyrinth" on one of those seperate movie shelves. I was extatic to see it. I LOVED that movie when I was little. So, of course I made the purchase, and I think it was only like $8 or something. My kids loved it and watched it 3 times that day. HA! Good job posting a blog about it for all the 80's lovers. Hope all is well!

Is it weird to say that I was in love with David Bowie when I was kid and this movie came out? I thought he was so intriguing and mostly just HOT! Can't wait to start showing it to my babes when they get older.
