vay cay

It's been a while. Sorry. I just got home from St. George with Paige. She ran a half marathon on Saturday and I went to be her support. Not so much support as relaxation consultant, I guess.

We watched lots of movies and ate our own weight in junk food. It was a great break from all the kids and very relaxing. We stayed at Paige's grandma's house which, sadly, does not have a pool. So we borrowed a pool key from our friend Jenica who owns a home with a community pool. Saturday morning, after the race, we put on our suits, grabbed our iPods, got Cokes, tanning oil and headed off to the pool. We were giddy with excitement at the first pool day of the year. The thought of our husbands at home tackling the kids (probably literally) made it even sweeter. You can probably guess the end of this story because it is 'something that would only happen to Laurie'. The pool was closed!!!! There was a huge chain wrapped around the gate with a sign that said "because of extreme vandalism, the pool is closed until further notice". Are you freaking kidding me??????

So we carted our sorry buns back across town and decided to lay out in Paige's grandma's backyard. I am not sorry to report that I am sunburned. There is nothing quite like a sunburn to make you feel like summer might actually come again. Sunburns and yard work....the two necessary evils of summertime.

I'm so jealous! Sorry about the pool debacle, but at least you were still able to do a little relaxing.

What is a St. George trip without a little pool controversy??? Last Spring my friend and I thought we had "pool rights" but for some reason we couldn't find the key. So we broke in, the alarm went off but we swam anyway. It was a little hard to relax with a piercing alarm in the background, but it was worth the tinge of pink my lilywhite skin got. Later some "pool cops" came and gave us the evil eye, how rude. So what if it turned we we had no "right" to be there. There are plently of St. George pools to go around, don't they know how to share.
~Sounded like you had a great trip anyway. I hope you get many more, looks like those cute kids keep you busy!!!
