Amazing Gracee

I have a 15 year old sister, Gracee. She is a riot. Not only is she tall and beautiful but she is witty and clever too. (She is, of course, MY sister.) The other night we were out to dinner with my family at Ruth's Chris. The waiter was bringing out our food when I turned to Gracee and jokingly said, "I'll pay you $50 to ask the waiter to cut your steak for you."
Without missing a beat she turned and asked. And he did it. He cut her steak into bite sized pieces for her. I was DYING of embarrassment and she didn't act flustered in the least. Basically the joke was on me. But I am not one to let $50 go too easily. So I plotted my revenge.
Gracee was going with me to my 4th of July Wimmer family party. Keep in mind that the Wimmers are my in-laws and she doesn't really know them too well. I told her that we do a talent show every year for the party and that she needed to prepare a talent. Being the guest and not wanting to be a party pooper, she went about practicing her lip sync routine.
After lunch at the party we set up chairs on the lawn, got out the karaoke machine and made a stage on the deck. Gracee took the stage and performed a lovely Miley Cyrus song. Everyone cheered and clapped and took pictures. When it was over I informed her that we had never done a talent show before and she was the only act. She pushed me off the deck and tried to tackle me to the ground. I was laughing so hard I nearly peed my pants! She was laughing too and was totally a good sport about it. But something tells me that I need to watch my back....
Love you Gracee!

All things fabulous

No, that is not a tiara on my head, but I wish it was.  How fun would it be to have a girls weekend wearing a ceiling fan on my head?  I have a lucky lot in life that I have many best friends to choose from, but this really is the cream of the crop.  Ashley/Laurie/Paige trips take the cake.  Apologies to you other girlfriends.  Take me on a trip and maybe you'll get a tribute....
Hard to imagine that these hard working mommies by day become regular girls gone wild on vacation.  Perhaps we've had one too many shots.  And I do mean Tetanus shots.  Refer to Paige's blog for more info on that adventure.  We are all about the hard drinking, giving up our regular Diet Coke for shaved ice in a plethora of fruit flavors.  WaHoo - how's that for partying it up?
So many things to report on.....the 6 mile run that never happened (as I predicted), an emergency trip to InstaCare, a day at the Veyo pool when we went back in time to the 1960's, budgets blown at Target on HSM2 keychains that play the song Fabulous, Pizza Factory salad bar two nights in a row, sunburns down the right side of our bodies (still mysterious), and we shall not soon forget Billy the Kid.  Oh then Charlie's sammies, McDonald's pancakes, Peanutbutter M&M's, Fresca, the best homemade popcorn EVER, floatation devices, glitter toes, US Weekly, HGTV, GSN, Saturday Night Live clips online, dead cockroaches, Ambien.  And did I mention NO KIDS!!??
Sorry Melissa, I had to throw in this photo for you.  I didn't have any coordinating hats to use and I was fresh out of kissy faces.  But I was thinking about you...

Last, but not least, check out our toes.  Can you guess which one is which??

a little more potty talk

Adam: "MOM, come wipe me!!"
Upon entering the bathroom (that I had scrubbed clean earlier in the day) I found no small amount of poop on the floor next to some very messy pants.
Me: "ADAM! WHAT HAPPENED HERE????"
Adam: "I don't know. Maybe Dad did it."

Are wii having fun yet?

Eric got a Nintendo wii for Father's Day. (He has the best wife EVER.) I thought I would share some of the directions with you all. I am not joking this is word for word:

  • Parents should watch their children play video games. Stop playing and consult a doctor if you or your child has any of the following symptoms:
  • Convulsions
  • Eye or muscle twitching
  • Altered vision
  • Loss of awareness
  • Involuntary movements
  • Disorientation
  • If your hands, wrists, arms or eyes become tired or sore while playing or if you fell symptoms such as tingling, numbness, burning or stiffness, stop on rest for several hours before playing again.
I laughed when I first read that, but after dreaming that I'm playing and my arms being so sore from tennis and bowling I realize that those warnings aren't a laughing matter. I've always been wary of video games because I'm scared my kids will become addicted. Silly me - I wasn't counting on loving it so much.

Liar, liar, house on fire!

I was putting on my makeup this morning when I smelled smoke. I ran down to the kitchen and found a pile of ashes and a half burned sheet of notebook paper sitting next to a burning candle. I had lit the candle, but not the paper. There were no kids in sight.
Me screaming a bit hysterically: "Who did this??"
Luke: "Not me."
Cameron: "Not me."
Adam: "Not me."
I could tell by the look on his guilty, little face that Adam was the culprit.
Me: "Adam, why would you play with the candle? You're going to burn the house down!"
Adam: "I didn't do it."
Me: "Oh really? Then who dragged the bar stool across the kitchen to climb up on the counter top?"
Adam: "I opened the door and the wind blew it there."

Chocolate milk anyone?

You probably didn't believe me when I said that we were becoming white trash. Believe it. This is a photo of my kids making "chocolate milk" (actually mud) in a wagon in the backyard. Yup, they are using a toilet brush and a plunger to stir. Yum.

Cameron had her first day of t-ball today. It's hard to say whether Eric or Cameron was more excited. Eric took her to buy a mitt, balls, bat and pants. No, they don't need special pants, but Eric wanted to get them. When they got home from the shopping trip Eric dressed her up and took her picture. Girliest tomboy you ever saw!
