In October 2005 I finally figured out what I want to do with my life. My father in-law had planned a family trip to London. He served his mission there about a hundred years ago and then hosted the BYU study abroad a couple of times. This was his big chance to show us around. I, however, was too stressed out about leaving my two year-old daughter and one year-old boys to get sufficiently excited about the trip. The thought of trekking around London in the rain while my aunt and mom took care of my kids didn’t sound all that appealing. But as Eric would say, ‘Don’t I have egg on my face!’
We were touring the Tower of London, seeing all the crown jewels when I discovered my heart’s true desire. I want to be the queen of England!!! I want to live in a castle and wear gowns. If I was the queen I would visit the Tower of London every morning and pick out a different piece of ridiculously expensive jewelry to wear and I would never be caught dead without a scepter in hand.
I practice my Brittish accent daily with Charlie and Lola (kids' favorite cartoon), my kids think I'm either really funny or really crazy, I can't quite tell which. I just finished watching the 20/20 Royal Family Special and I have renewed desire to wear a crown. Not to mention a renewed crush on Prince William but that’s another post entirely.
I guess this is a perfect time to bring up The Other Boleyn Girl. Don’t worry I won’t spoil the ending for anyone who hasn’t finished the book. (I meant that as a joke, but I do actually have a friend who doesn’t know the fate of the Boleyns. How can she not have learned that at some point?) Anyway, I loved the movie and I want a few of those dresses for my own collection to go with my scepter, of course. In a nutshell, the movie was great and the book was better! Go see it!
Long live the queen!!!

I was watching that 20/20 too...Oh the Life of royalty!!!
LOL! Hilarious! I am taking "The Other Bolyn Girl" on my trip next week. I shall THINK OF YOU when I am in London at the palace in two weeks! ;-) LOL!
I've just bought the book to read (it cost me 10p (yep good ol' English money!) which is equiv to about 20c! at a thrift store!! If you want, we could get Heather to make the queen 'disappear' when she's over here in a few weeks and you could just 'happen' to take her place :) It would be good to have a fresh face on the throne :) joanne x
Let's rule together! That is my FAVORITE period of time, I'm a huge Anglophile and still can't get over the fact that I was born to American parents.
I always wanted to be Grape Ape. I thought how cool would that be to ride around town on top of a van all day. Grape Ape was riding on top of vans a full decade before Teen Wolf made it cool. Plus the never ending supply of bananas wouldn't be so bad either...
Hey, I took care of your kids for a couple of days during your trip too! 5 kids for 48 hours...all under the age of 3--great fun! Long live the queen.
Also, leave it to Eric to use an OLD cartoon to remind us all how very old he is. =)
I think you have more than 1 friend who doesn't know the fate of the Boleyns....sorry.
I don't know how it ends either, glad you didn't give it away.
Yep, still on for tomorrow night - I am excited to see you guys!
I want to go see The Other Bolyn Girl so bad...I'm glad to hear that you liked it! We got a new blog address. It's stahelis.blogspot.com
We read this book in book club and I can't wait to see the movie. I loved the book.
Oh how I want to go back to London, I think it's Paris next. We are lucky to have the traveling Father in law!
Hey! I am still trying to figure this whole blogging thing out! I just figured out how to add people...now I just need to get some! Haha. One day I think we will get back to seeing movies. We haven't seen one for at least a year! BTW...I just found a book "These is my words" the other day..I'm pretty sure its yours! Oops! Good excuse to get together..call me!
you'll have to fight me big time for that crown ;)
You must be busy! You haven't blogged for a while! :)
I was LOL about your dream. Of course YOU were the only one not doing pot! You goodie goodie!
I'm so with you on the fun pretty dresses and extravogant jewels!! It would be like playing dress up every day!! We'll have to come visit again sometime when all your sickness is gone since Caitlyn seemed to love you guys and that doesn't happen very often!! Just be sure to hide Mickey this time!!!
it has been so long since your last post! Are you sick!? I'm excited you can come to my shower :)
Boy, Laurie, you REALLY DO want to be Queen!
Where are you? 2 weeks and no posts? Is everything ok?
