We had such a good time yesterday! Eric got up really early (5:30) and took the kids to see the hot air balloons take off in Provo. (And I got to sleep in!) They loved it! All day they were telling everyone about the 'air hot balloons' that looked like a pig and a strawberry. Then we went to Greg and Michelle's house (Eric's brother). We had loads of yummy food, including a very patriotic jello salad and even did a water slide! They have the perfect yard with a hill off to one side. They put down a tarp on the hill and it's an instant water slide. It was a riot watching all the kids and dads sliding down the tarp. They put dish soap all over it to make it more slippery. That's what the pictures are of. The first one is Sadie (a cousin) and Cameron. The one to the left is Adam and Luke trying hard to finish their ice cream before it melted. (It did melt all over the place.) And the last one is of the kids jumping up and down (that's why Cam is a little fuzzy).
Then we went to a barbecue at Grandma Mickey's house. She was celebrating her 61st wedding anniversary, her first one alone. When I was a kid we used to always have our family reunions over the 4th of July and we'd all celebrate their anniversary together. In a month Grandma will move to a brand spanking new condo. It was bittersweet for everyone. Good memories and moving on. Eric and I played 2 man baseball with the kid's plastic gear. We were very entertaining, I'm sure.
Then we got together with all the neighbors for fireworks. We have the best view of the Thanksgiving Point fireworks from the Parra's backyard. And all the boys put on a very good Driveway of Flames show in the street. I love how they pretend it's for the kids....especially Raul.
July 4th continues to be my favorite holiday! To me, there's nothing better than the hot weather, good food, lots of friends and family and fireworks! What could be better? We are so lucky to be Americans! July is the best month of the year. Independence Day, Bastille Day, Luke's birthday, Adam's birthday and of course MY BIRTHDAY!
